Joy Martinez

Children’s Ministry Coordinator

After working as a civil engineer for about 12 years, Joy was called out of that career to join the Children’s Ministry staff at Redeemer Church in NYC, and then went on to coordinate Children’s Ministry at several daughter church plants in NY and NJ. After returning to engineering for a season, Joy joined the staff at Grace in October 2021 as Children’s Ministry Coordinator for our infant through pre-school children. She is delighted to coordinate volunteers, equip teachers on Sunday and develop lesson and take-home materials that support parents in teaching and sharing the love of Jesus with the littlest ones God has given us.

Joy also coordinates the childcare and bible lessons shared with dozens of neighborhood preschool children during our Mothers of Pre-Schoolers (MOPS) outreach program, which meets semi-monthly during the school year.

Joy and her husband Ernesto have been attending Grace since April 2021. They have been married since 1989 and have two adult children: Jesse, who lives in Seattle, and Grace, who lives in San Francisco with her husband Sam.

What is your hope for the ministry and people of Grace Church?

That we would all grow in our willingness to step out of our comfort zones to love, listen to, and serve those around us who are different than ourselves (including those much, much younger!), in order to both know Jesus better and reflect his love better.
