Ilya Maslov

Director of Worship

Ilya Maslov was born in the Soviet Union and he was fortunate to have been able to emigrate to the United States in the late 1970s. Formally trained in classical piano, Ilya spent several years living and working in the New York City entertainment industry. After years of growing up in a society permeated by atheist ideology, Ilya gave his life to Christ in 1982. He subsequently began serving as the Musical Director at Manhattan Presbyterian Church and remained there until 1987 when it merged with Redeemer Presbyterian Church. At that point Ilya moved to New Jersey and joined the staff as a musician at Hawthorne Gospel Church under the direction of Worship Pastor Dr. Rob Minor. In 2006 Dr. Minor was called to become Senior Pastor of Grace Church of Ridgewood and he asked Ilya to join the ministry as Director of Worship. Ilya continues to faithfully serve God in this capacity today. Ilya has been married to his wife Tricia for 38 years. They have two daughters, Nicole and Victoria.

What is your hope for the ministry and people of Grace Church?

My desire for the Grace Church Worship Ministry has been and continues to be that the ministry provides a platform for believers in Jesus Christ to use our God-given talents to make Him known in our community and beyond. I hope and pray that the members of this ministry shall grow spiritually and artistically, so that we can do both – “play skillfully” (Psalm 33:3) and “make a joyful noise unto the Lord” (Psalm 98:4)!
