The Mendenhall Ministries (TMM), begun in 1977, seeks to break the cycle of poverty in the lives of families within Mendenhall, Mississippi through a holistic ministry that addresses their spiritual, social, educational, economic and physical needs. One of the ministries is Genesis One, a Christian elementary school whose mission is to “prepare students for excellence as people of character and to lay the foundation for the development of Christian leaders.” They recently acquired a new property that has allowed them to modernize and expand the school. TMM also assists older students in a variety of after-school programs including help with preparation for the SAT’s, tutoring, assisting with the college application process, and providing career counseling. TMM wants to touch every area of life for those for whom Christ died. They support a full time clinic to help cover the healthcare needs of the community. They own a farm and have operated it to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to those in the community and are in the process of revitalizing the farm.
