Become a Christian

Becoming a Christian is not becoming part of a religion or like joining a club.  It is a radical, transforming decision to trust Jesus to save you from the punishment that you deserve for the wrong things you do.  The following is an explanation of what the Bible teaches about why you need Jesus to save you and how you can trust in him today!  If you decide to follow Jesus in this way, please let us know by sending an e-mail HERE.

God loves you more than you can ever imagine.  His desire is that you would become His child through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son,that whoever believes in him   should not perish but have eternal life.”  John 3:16
God created us in his image for fellowship and to experience abundant life. He gave us the freedom to live in obedience to His commands or to rebel.
John 10:10 Jesus said, “. . . I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

The Bible says that we all sin. To “sin” means to “miss the mark.”  We have missed the mark of God’s holiness. “For all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.” Romans 3:23
Because of our sin we are separated from God and deserve His judgment.  “but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.” Isaiah 9:2

No matter how hard we try, our goodness, works, morality or religious activity is not good enough to gain acceptance with God because God alone is righteous.
“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”  Romans 3:10-12

God is perfect righteousness and holiness but He is also full of love and grace.  He has given hope to everyone through Jesus Christ.
“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:8
This is the good news for all people … the gospel.
God loved us so much that  For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”  2 Corinthians 5:21.
God offers you the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.   Jesus is the bridge to eternal life.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”  Ephesians 2:8-9

Believing means trust and commitment. We must acknowledge our sinfulness while trusting in Christ’s forgiveness and letting Him control our life. Eternal life is a gift for us to receive.   In order to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior you must:

  1. Admit your need (I am a sinner).
  2. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent – make a radical turn away from all those things that hinder you from walking in obedience to God).
  3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave. (To believe means to commit your life to Jesus Christ in complete surrender as Lord of your life).
  4. Through prayer, surrender your heart and life to Jesus Christ.
  5. What to pray: Dear Lord Jesus: I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now put my trust and total surrender in You and commit to follow You as the Lord and Saviour of my life.
